This 3-day Samburu Safari takes you to Samburu National Reserve, a unique semi-arid wilderness known for its dramatic landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and rare wildlife species only found in Northern Kenya. Samburu is home to the special “Samburu Five” — the Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Somali ostrich — along with elephants, lions, leopards, and abundant birdlife. Enjoy scenic game drives along the Ewaso Nyiro River, which attracts wildlife throughout the year.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Morning

Depart Nairobi after breakfast and drive north through Nanyuki with stunning views of Mt. Kenya.
Arrive in Samburu in time for lunch at your lodge/camp.

Afternoon

Enjoy your first game drive in the reserve.
Look out for the Samburu Five and large herds of elephants near the Ewaso Nyiro River.

Evening

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full Day in Samburu

Morning

Early morning game drive when wildlife is most active.
Explore the rugged terrain, riverbanks, and open plains in search of lions, cheetahs, leopards, and the rare species unique to this region.

Midday

Relax at the lodge/camp; enjoy the pool or panoramic views of the reserve.

Afternoon

Another exciting game drive with opportunities to spot more wildlife and birds such as the vulturine guineafowl.

Evening

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Samburu – Nairobi

Morning

Sunrise game drive before returning to the lodge for breakfast.
Check out and depart Samburu.

Afternoon

Stop for lunch en route.
Arrive back in Nairobi in the late afternoon/evening, marking the end of your wilderness adventure.

You may choose to begin and end the tour in Nairobi, or start in Nairobi and finish in Mombasa if you plan to enjoy a beach extension along the Kenyan Coast.
