Safari Highlights
Ol Pejeta
- The Last Northern White Rhinos: The most poignant highlight is visiting Najin and Fatu, the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world, a truly once-in-a-lifetime encounter that underscores the importance of global conservation efforts.
- Rhino Sanctuary: Ol Pejeta is East Africa's largest black rhino sanctuary, with a robust and growing population of over 100 individuals, offering excellent opportunities to see these endangered animals in their natural habitat
- The "Big Five": The conservancy is home to all members of the Big Five: elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. Its high wildlife-to-land ratio makes sightings of these iconic species fairly common.
- Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary : This is the only place in Kenya where you can see chimpanzees. The sanctuary provides a lifelong refuge for chimps rescued from various traumatic situations across Africa, in an agreement with the Jane Goodall Institute.
Samburu National Reserve
- Encounter rare northern species in Samburu, including Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, and Beisa oryx
- Predator Action: High chances of seeing lions, leopards, and cheetahs, often with dramatic kills, especially near the river
- Elephant Herds: Large elephant populations gather at the Ewaso Ng'iro River, offering great viewing and bathing spectacles.

Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi - Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Depart from Nairobi in the morning and drive north towards Ol Pejeta Conservancy (approx. 3.5–4 hours).
Check into your lodge/camp and enjoy lunch.
Afternoon game drive in Ol Pejeta, known for its Big Five sightings, including lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards.
Optional visit to the Chimps Sanctuary, home to rescued chimpanzees.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge/camp inside Ol Pejeta.
Highlights: Big Five, chimpanzee sanctuary, rhino tracking.
Day 2: Ol Pejeta - Samburu National Reserve
Early morning game drive in Ol Pejeta to catch wildlife activity at sunrise.
After breakfast, drive north to Samburu National Reserve (approx. 5–6 hours), passing through scenic landscapes.
Arrive at Samburu and check into your lodge/camp.
Late afternoon game drive in Samburu, famous for northern species including:
Reticulated giraffe
Grevy’s zebra
Somali ostrich
Beisa oryx
Gerenuk
Dinner and overnight at your lodge/camp in Samburu.
Highlights: Unique northern species, riverside landscapes, sunset game drive.
Day 3: Full Day Safari in Samburu
Early morning and late afternoon game drives in Samburu to maximize wildlife sightings.
Relax at the lodge mid-day or enjoy optional activities such as guided bush walks or visits to local Samburu villages.
Look out for predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards along the Ewaso Nyiro River.
Overnight at your Samburu lodge/camp.
Highlights: Full day of wildlife spotting, predator tracking, cultural experiences.
Day 4: Samburu - Nairobi
Optional early morning game drive for last-minute wildlife sightings.
Breakfast and begin your drive back to Nairobi (approx. 5–6 hours).
Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, where your safari ends.
Highlights: Scenic drive back with opportunities for final sightings.
Please note that this safari is fully customizable to suit your travel preferences. You may choose to begin and end the tour in Nairobi, or start in Nairobi and finish in Mombasa if you plan to enjoy a beach extension along the Kenyan Coast.
